Demonstration calculators

Tools you can run

Engineering tools you can use in your browser. The calculators state their methods and limits; Advik ProtoTrace helps recover graph data through image preparation, calibration and curve review.

01

Pontoon barge stability

Hydrostatics and the righting-lever curve of a trapezoidal pontoon, obtained by integrating the immersed volume at constant displacement, so the curve remains valid after the deck edge immerses.

  • Draught, GM, deck-edge immersion
  • Righting lever to 60 degrees
  • Computed quantities against the intact stability criteria

02

Propeller open water

Thrust, torque and efficiency of a Wageningen B-series or Gawn propeller across its advance range, with the operating point a given diameter and shaft speed produce.

  • KT, KQ and open-water efficiency
  • Thrust, torque and delivered power
  • Blade area screened against cavitation

Advik ProtoTrace

Turn scanned graphs that you have the right to use into calibrated data and editable plots. Align the scan, define axes, trace curves, and export your results.

  • Linear and logarithmic axes, multiple plots
  • Manual points, automatic tracing and curve fitting
  • CSV, Plotly, SVG, PNG and PDF exports

Each calculator states where its method came from and where that method stops being valid. When the approved calculation is needed, a stability booklet or a propeller design, we prepare it with the conditions these pages leave out and support it through the classification society’s review.
